How to Plan your Own Personalized Photoshoot
Don’t overcomplicate things! Think about what you’d do on a typical day with your partner or family. Maybe it’s grabbing your favorite coffee, hitting up that bookstore you both love, or sharing a pizza! . These simple activities create a relaxed environment where you can be yourselves, and your photographer (me) will capture it all for you!
Ideas for Personalizing a Photoshoot
Coffee and Bookstore Date
Rachel and Chad are bookworms so when we were coming up with ideas for their couple photoshoot, it was a no-brainer to have a photoshoot at a bookstore! We started the session out with them at a coffee shop and snapped some photos of them cuddling on the couch and drinking their coffee! For them, this was so natural as this is what they did together anyway! I was just along for the ride this time. At the bookstore we captured some seriously romantic photos. It represented their personality so well and made it easy to capture the authentic moments.
A Fun Picnic Date
For Soph and Sean’s session they chose to do a little picnic!! We stopped at Dutch Bros and Westside Pizza and set up a blanket for them to enjoy their date. Similar to Rachel and Chad they did what felt natural to them and I just came along for the ride. They ate pizza, had some playful moments, sipped on their drinks, all while I captured their authentic moments
Choose a Location that You LOVE
Hannah and Josh’s photoshoot was a perfect example on how to incorporate children into your session without having to make sure they are focused and posing the entire time! I was able to capture them as a family exactly how they are. The session started off with a stroll on the beach where Hannah and Josh’s love definitely stood out! They love the beach so it was the perfect location to capture all of their playful moments! After Hannah and Josh’s part of the session their kid joined in and for some fun, they even dressed up as ghosts! It was seriously so fun and being able to be there and capture all of their family moments and personalities was amazing.
Throughout these sessions one thing they had in common was the vibes throughout! Because they included ideas that had a special meaning to them, it made everything feel less like a staged shoot and more like a fun day out. The coffee runs, the bookstore, and pizza stops were moments that reflected the couple’s everyday life and what they love to do together!! That’s what made the session truly personal and authentic.
